Morbier (Swiss-German border near Alsace-Lorraine) tall case clock, 1850 or earlier, 8 day movement with quarter hour striking and repeating hour strike, frame or skeletonized works with triple bells appear complete, segmented porcelain dial with double hour ring of nesting Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced and repousse brass dial crest depicting musical putti, sea nymphs, wreathed heads, and triumphant rooster, oak or ash case with beveled and recessed details throughout, hood with gently rounded crest and conforming glass door flanked by two hinged side doors, long and narrow trunk with bull''s eye glass lunette at center of succession of molded and sunken panels, base raised on four original cabriole legs, oblong, lozenge form, tablet form, trefoil, and eight pointed star panels or carvings throughout, expected surface wear including minor loss, comes with collapsing pendulum with folding extension rods, two original weights, and key, some hairlines and chips to dial (notably near "5", "11" and "12" numerals), saddle board pieces detached but included, some missing parts to upper hinges, approximately 99" h. x 16 1/2" w. x 10 1/2" d.
