Past attribution to George Loring Brown (American, 1814 - 1889), "View of Venice", c. 1881, oil on canvas, depicts harbor view of Venice with Doges Palace and Prisons at right, the Church of Santa Maria Della Salute in background, and large merchant ship and two gondolas at center, typical of work by George Loring Brown, no signature currently visible, condition consistent with age and use including craquelure, in-painting, and has been wax relined, reframed by Varieka, sight size: 33" h. x 59" w. [PROVENANCE: Purchased from Bradford Galleries, Ltd., Estate Auctioneers & Appraisers, Sheffield, Massachusetts, c. 1991, and formerly the property of the Yankee Peddler Inn, Holyoke, Massachusetts. Additionally, stated in a 1981 appraisal to be by George Loring Brown.]
