POTTERY: American Bennington-type pottery, two pieces including a flint enamel "Tulip Vase" and "Coachman Bottle", both likely by Lyman, Fenton & Co., Bennington, VT, c. 1849-1858, details include: flint enamel 'Tulip Vase', Rockingham glaze with additional dark green and blue glazes, deep bowl with eight petaled rim, raised on a hexagonal pedestal base, unmarked, wear consistent with age and use including chip to petal and small nicks, 9" h. [Literature: Parallels Barret - Bennington Pottery and Porcelain, p. 146, pl. 213.]; and a "Coachman Bottle", Rockingham glaze of mottled brown, figural form of well detailed gentleman with moustache, holding a bottle, cape with tassels, unmarked, wear consistent with age and use including rough areas, both feet missing with exposed area darkened, etc., 11" h.
