Probably Bernard Lamotte (French/ American, 1903 - 1983), costume design presumably for "The Mikado", 1954, depicts study of man in profile wearing yellow robe and holding samurai swords, monogramed "BL" on graduated grey background, illegible script verso, framed and matted behind glass, laid down, toning and foxing to mat, wear to frame, frame size: 30 3/4" h. x 21 1/4" w. [NOTE: Bernard Lamotte was an illustrator and theater designer who did the settings and costume design for the Ballet Russe ballet "The Mikado", which premiered in Washington D.C. in 1954.] [PROVENANCE: From the Connecticut estate of Irina Pabst, designer, artist and philanthropist.]
