Russian hand-painted lacquer boxes, group of two, Napolean themed, both by Sergey Turin of the Fedoskino school and signed on cover: "Napoleon Crossing the Alps" after original work by Jacques-Louis David (1748 - 1825), painted hinged lid, depicts iconic portrait of the Emperor on rearing horse, 1 1/2" h. x 6" w. x 6 3/4" l.; and second shaped box "Empress Josephine", depicts young beauty on settee with classical background, hinged, 1 1/4" h. x 4 1/2" w. x 7 3/4" l., both pieces with light wear consistent with age and use.
