Russian hand-painted lacquer boxes, two large pieces, 20th C., horse themed, both signed by artist, details include: "Naked Gypsies Stealing Horses" by E. Solodilov of Fedoskino, depicts a group of Neanderthal looking men stripped of their clothes stealing horses, while an neighboring army campfire glows in the distance, interior with small metal horse figure and next to lake comprised of mother of pearl inlay, signed and dated to cover lower right, 7 1/2" w. x 6" h. x 1 1/4" d.; and smaller shaped box with three military men in armor on hillside, signed at LC, 6 1/8" w., both pieces with light wear consistent with age and use.
