SAMPLERS, two mid-19th C. examples featuring cross stitch and other techniques: first colored thread and yarn on linen, seven alpha-numeric rows, signed and dated "Margaret Gallaca" and "May 1 1850" along bottom, isolated loss to some letters and hanging flowering basket depiction at right, reworked area in fourth row, as: 12 1/2" h. x 11 7/8" w.; along with second colored thread on linen, combined nine alpha-numeric rows, upper half signed and dated "M.A. Blackmore, October 21, 1863" while lower half signed "Emily Blackmore", birds and planted trees depicted towards lower bottom, isolated discoloration, several scattered holes and pulls, ss: 16 1/2" h. x 11 3/4" w., both works framed behind glass, neither examined out of frames.
