SCULPTURE: After Jean de Bologne (French/Belgian/Italian, 1529-1608), "Mercury," bronze signed on the integral figural base "J. de. Bologne/ France", after the 1580 sculpture at the Villa Medici, depicting Mercury with winged cap and feet, caduceus in left hand, right arm upraised clutching a bag, issuing forth from the mouth of Zephyr, raised on a black stone ringed plinth inset with a bronze relief band at center with raised putti decoration, wear consistent with age including light scattered scratches, small flakes to bottom rim of stone pedestal base, shallow mark/ indentation to one buttock, three small indentations to upraised arm, etc., overall height: 24 1/4" h.
