SCULPTURE: Parian bust of Sir Walter Scott by Copeland, England, 19th C., depicts the famous Scottish novelist, poet and historian dressed in a tartan (produced and registered in 1822 for his own use, a black and white plaid in the form of a Lowland Shepard's plaid), and held with a buckle/ brooch with thistle form decoration, after original sculpture by Edward William Wyon (British, 1811-1885), raised on round pedestal base, stamped maker's mark on reverse "COPELAND", wear consistent with age and use, surface wear to nose and scattered imperfections, appears to have discreet hairline where neck meets folds of cloth, etc., sold as is, 14 3/4" h.
