SILVER: Paul de Lamerie (1688-1751) George II sterling meat dish, 1745, oblong form with gadrooned rim and shell-over-scroll decoration to corners and ends, engraved twice with a coat of arms within cartouche atop ribbon bearing motto "Tout est vanité", hallmarked on reverse with lion passant, Leopard's head crowned, partial "k" mark (London date letter for 1745 - 46), and "P L" in script with crown above and pellets between and below (maker's mark for Paul de Lamerie, entered 1739), wear consistent with age and use including numerous scratches to center, surrounding rim and to reverse, small nicks to edges, wear to hallmarks, etc., 13 1/2" l. x 9 1/2" w. x 1" d. (weight: 30.6 ozt.)
