Sir James Jebusa Shannon (British/American, 1862-1923), oil on canvas, monumental portrait of a young woman, Jean Graham, reading book on tiger-skin covered chair in high-necked, ivory-colored silk Victorian dress, signed and dated "J.J. Shannon, 1889" LR, bears plaque reading artist's name, sitter's name, donor's name, and that work was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1889, Hirschl-Adler Galleries, New York City label verso, French transport sticker verso, work possibly reduced in size, craquelure, small area of inpainting UR, ss: 56" h. x 52" w. [Deaccesioned from a Connecticut museum.]
