TEXTILE: Uneven nine patch cotton quilt set on point with alternating plain blocks, c. 1840-1860, calico colors are predominately brown; plain blocks are muslin, the pieced blocks are quilted in lines 1/4 inch from the edge; the plain blocks are quilted with leaf designs, unusual knife edge, with a tape typically used for binding ("Trenton tape") stitched like a border along edge on top, thin cotton batting, quilted with consistent nine stitches to the inch in white cotton thread, good condition: overall slightly yellowed, brown dye rot in one of the light brown calicoes, a couple of brown spots on face, and a couple areas of brown staining on the back, 109" x 108".
