TEXTILES: Two Civil War Era dresses, deaccessioned from a Connecticut Museum: one Wedding dress, c. 1866, unidentified maker, American, silk, comprised of a jacket, skirt and belt, rosettes and ample pleating, jacket: 10 3/4" across front waist, 17 1/2" across front shoulders, 29 1/2" waist belt, skirt is 51" l.:; and an American Wrapper or Day-dress, unidentified maker, American, c. 1865, brown and orange floral pattern with generous use of trim, mother of pearl buttons for entire length of front, 19" across bust, 65 1/2" l. from collar to train, 50 1/4" l. from shoulder to front hem, 18 1/2" from shoulder to end of sleeve, heavy staining at shoulders, loose trim to train, all pieces with wear consistent with age and use including loose threads, occasional stain, etc. [Provenance: deaccessioned from the Wadsworth Atheneum, sold to benefit acquisition funds.]
