Three Connecticut Windsor side chairs, two fan backs and one bow back, c. 1780-1810, oak, maple, ash, pine, and other woods, two of three with detached legs: first a seven-spindle fan back, unusual seat shape, mismatched legs, later paint, 39 1/2" h.; second a nine-spindle fan back, detached front left leg and H-stretcher mostly present, 37 3/4" h.; and third a nine-spindle bow back, some spindles damaged, detached medial stretcher still present, butterfly key repair located under seat, 35 3/8" h. [Antiques collector, furniture restorer, and author Henry Hammond Taylor (Connecticut, 1878-1933) kept a detailed journal recording where and when he purchased early American antiques. He noted that the first chair listed came from Summerville. Prior to his death, Taylor bequeathed items in his collection to descendants.] [The Taylor Collection]
