TRIBAL: Five carvings, three African masks and two standing New Guinea figures: two similar Toma horned masks depicting protruding foreheads and large noses but lacking distinct facial features, one heavily weathered with loss and evidence of old repairs, the other with some areas of checking, most notably by chin and forehead, each approximately 24 1/2" h.; a female form mask from unknown tribe, large red lips and ears, carved decoration along forehead ending at tip of nose, 14" h.; along with two Sepik carved figures, one "Ancestral" figure, black, white and red painted finish, label adhered to back reads "Ancestral Figure, carved wood, decorative painting, Sepik region collected before 1955," evidence of past insect damage, 42" h.; the other depicting a narrow figure standing above mask, painted decorations throughout, 42" h., expected wear including some surface scratching, paint loss, checking, and sporadic chipping/loss, some evidence of insect damage.
