Two 19th C. needleworks including a signed 1874 sampler and an embroidered hummingbird in floral wreath, details include: sampler by Amy Chater, six rows of upper and lower case alphabet over numbers 1 through 14 over a row of pictorial trees and flowers over a stylized wave border, signed and dated on bottom row, with stitched border, expected wear including light toning and foxing, minimal loss of thread, ss: 10 1/4" h. x 8 1/4" w.; and an embroidered picture of a hummingbird on branch surrounded by pink and white flowering vine, silk thread on silk ground, in oval gilded frame, wear includes splitting of silk, spotting/ staining, etc., ss: 9 1/2" h. x 7 1/2" w., both pieces framed behind glass, neither examined out of frame, both sold as found.
