Two document boxes, early 19th C., both with decorative brass brad designs and borders, handmade nails, and heavy locking systems: smaller with black leather exterior, oval metal pull with floral motif and swing handle, lock impressed with "patent", accompanying paper tag reads "Document box, leather, brass brads, old lock, sherator pull, initialed 'LP', circa 1800", cracking, surface loss, overall loss, staining, 4" h. x 10" w. x 5 1/2" d.; larger box with brown woven surface, leather trim and handles, accompanying paper tag reads "Document box, found in Conn., circa 1810, original leather handle, lock, brass brads, wall paper lined", heavy surface wear and varied minor damages, loss to leather, 5 7/8" h. x 12" w. x 7 1/2" d.
