Two probably Edo period Japanese woodblocks: Utagawa Hiroshige (aka Ando Hiroshige, Japanese, 1797-1858), from the series "53 Stations of the Tokaido" (Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi, aka the "Great Tokaido" or "First Tokaido"), including: "Kusatsu: Famous Post House" (Kusatsu, Meibutsu tateba), showing sedan chairs and carriers in front of porters' dining hall, ss: 8 5/8" h. x 13 3/4" w.; along with "Fujieda: Changing Porters and Horses" (Fujieda, jinba tsugitate), depicting scantily clad porters loading horses and poles with blue wrapped parcels, ss: 9" h. x 13 3/4" w., both later impressions originally published c. 1833-34 by Hoeido, the second published jointly with Senkakudo, some fading, toning, foxing, soiling, and block wear, gilt loss to frames, loose in frames, both matted and framed under glass, neither examined out of frames.
