Two William Henry Chandler (American, 1854-1928) pastels on paper, each depicting evening landscapes, the first with small cottages lining a dirt roadway with surrounding woods and heavy vegetation, a flock of birds can be seen flying towards the setting sun, signed LL, ss: 9 3/4" h. x 27 3/4" w.; the second with a small dimly-lit cottage sitting on the banks of a calm river, long grass and tall trees surround as the sunsets in the back, signed LR, ss: 9 3/4" h. x 27 3/4" w., each in matching mahogany frames, expected wear to both including some discoloration and slight waving to paper, frames with some surface scratching, finish loss and sporadic nicking/chipping.[Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the New Britain Museum of American Art.
