Utagawa Kunisada I (aka Toyokuni III, Japanese, 1786-1865) two woodblock prints, "View of Nihonbashi in Edo" (Edo Nihonbashi no zu) and "View of Minakuchi" (Minakuchi no zu), both featuring a beautiful woman (bijin) in the foreground against a landscape/townscape, both from the series "53 Stations of the Tokaido Road" (Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi), also sometimes called the "Bijin Tokaido," originally published ca. 1838 by Moriya Jihei, later (still 19th C.) impressions (some block wear), the first with the publisher's and censor's seals missing, some foxing and staining/soiling, circular collector's seals, both matted and framed under glass, not examined out of frame, ss: (chuban tata-e)
