William Savage Cooper (British, fl. 1880-1926), three unframed oils on canvas comprising triptych, 1890: central panel showing Christ wearing crown of thorns and palms bloodied with stigmata, surrounded by mandorla of heavenly light and ring of cherubs, signed "Savage Cooper" and dated LL corner, central panel measures as: 40 1/4" h. x 32" w.; left panel depicting John the Baptist wearing animal skin and Virgin clasping hands in adoration, signed "Savage Cooper" and dated UL corner, as: 40" h. x 24" w.; along with right panel depicting young woman and elderly man in Arthurian dress (possibly Mary Magdalen and Joseph, husband of Virgin), signed "Savage Cooper" and dated UR corner, as: 40" h. x 24" w., some gentle warping of canvas around stretchers, several areas of paint loss, threadbare or translucent canvas, tears, repaired rips, and at least six patches throughout, area of loss most notably to left side of Christ's crown, paint loss along edges.
