Description:

Women's Suffrage movement mementoes including two Clarion pinback and other pins owned by Beatrice Schumm Fetz: suffragist ribbon marked "Votes for Women"; a sash labeled "Marshall"; along with numerous buttons including "Votes for Women", "Women's Political Union," "Woman's Peace Party", "International Resisters", seventeen in all, some loss to sash and pins. The Women's Political Union pins, Marshall sash and "Votes from Women" ribbon wore worn by Beatrice Schumm Fetz, grandmother of the consignor. "The Clarion" or Herald pins were issued by the Women's Political Union, an organization founded in 1910 by Harriet Stanton Blatch, daughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The pins combine both the W.S.P.U.'s official colors of purple, green, and white and the herald design itself. One Clarion pin is in excellent condition with its maker's label and pin on the back, the other has some surface wear and is missing the stick pin. [Schumm-Fetz family ownership]
