From New England Estates, Winter Associates will offer an important selection of artwork, jewelry, silver and antique American, English and Continental furniture. Also to cross the block are coins, Oriental rugs, Asian artwork and ceramics.

Fine paintings from a Massachusetts home include oil paintings by Alberto Pasini, “Bargaining for Pots” featuring a Middle Eastern marketplace and by Julien Dupre “An Idle Moment”, an idyllic pastoral scene. The Dupre is inscribed verso in ink “J’ai fait de tableau pour Monsieur Jackson, Julien Dupre”. A fine Pre-Impressionist oil landscape “An Outing on the Seine” by Stanislas Lépine offers the viewer a tranquil view of the famous French river. The ownership provenance for these works can all be traced to an early 20th C. owner in Worcester Massachusetts, Alexander De Witt.

Much of the furniture in the sale comes from the estate of a Connecticut woman who recently passed away in her nineties, she had spent some of her younger years as an antique dealer. Particular items of interest from this estate include a Southwest American woven basket with train motif, an American desk bookcase c. 1800, a Hepplewhite work stand with marquetry and penwork, and a c. 1810 tall clock with nicely painted and signed face by Hugh Ely, an early clockmaker in New Hope, PA and then Trenton, NJ where he made clocks with music-box attachments. Antique decorative arts include samplers, hair wreaths, dioramas, a Chinese Export rose medallion punch bowl, etc.

A strong assortment of vintage jewelry comes from two Connecticut estates. An Art Deco platinum, 5.25 ctw. diamond and onyx bracelet is beautifully designed to set off the diamonds and display clean, geometric 20th C. lines. In contrast an 18k Belle Époque brooch features flowing lines and naturalistic motifs, and is set with rubies, pearls and diamonds. Another of the noticeable pieces of the over 40 lots of jewelry is a substantial 18K gold articulated bracelet with seventy-two round brilliant diamonds with an estimated weight of 3.50 ctw. For the fashion conscious there is also vintage clothing by designers such as Givenchy Couture, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, etc.

There are also over 35 lots of silver, many by notable makers such as Tiffany, Cartier and Gorham and including a sterling four piece Cartier tea set.
