Description:

E. TERRY & SON, PLYMOUTH, CT - 30-hour wooden movement shelf clock, ca. 1829. Eli Terry (1772-1852) had several firms which manufactured shelf clocks in a factory along the Naugatuck River at Plymouth (this area in present-day Thomaston), CT. Henry Terry (1801-1877) was the son in this firm. This clock is in "as found condition" and has a shorter case (3/4 size) from the Loomis clock. It has an excellent, original dial in good condition and the original label has some loss, but very readable. The splat in the center of the top is a poorly made replacement. The columns and original splat had bronze stenciling originally. There is some damage to the veneer and the mirror or reverse painted tablet in the door is missing.
