SAMPLERS: Three Continental embroidered samplers, late 18th-early 19th C., one signed, details include: smallest sampler dated 1813, Switzerland, colored silk thread on linen, signed "Ana Cathrina Somies" in top half, dated near bottom near tree decoration, two small holes near edge and four in body of text are all 1/4" or smaller, 4 3/4" h. x 7 3/4" w.; second sampler dated 1792, Switzerland, colored silk thread on linen, possibly monogrammed in lower half, motifs include pair of doves, crowns, etc., large stain to lower left corner, some thread loss, etc., 10 1/2" h. x 12" w.; and last sampler with red thread on white cotton, Belgium, unsigned and not dated, varied embroidered panels in lower half, small stain near "V" and small pinhole in upper right corner, 6 3/4" h. x 5 7/8" w., samplers stored loose on acid free board under protective plastic cover, all with wear consistent with age and use and may include toning, small holes, stains, etc., all sold as found.
