Description:

Two prints: Richard Earlom (British 1743-1822), "Timoclea", mezzotint, 1819, after a painting by Domenichino, printed with black ink on cream laid paper with margins, as issued, a very fine impression, the scene is based on Alexander the Great's conquering of Thebes and the story of Timoclea, a noble lady who Alexander respected for fighting for her city's liberty, published by Hurst, Robinson & Co., London, a small paper loss, mid-lower margin, light mat burn, small tears/creases to margin, etc., 18 1/2" h. x 23" w.; along with Nicolas Francois Regnault (France) 1746-1810, "Le Baiser a la derobee, engraving, 1788, after a painting by Jean-Honore Fragonard, printed and published by Regnault, his address lower center, two nicks in the left margin, printed in black ink on cream laid paper, staining from old glue in the margins, a scuff within the image, upper center with two smaller scuffs in the same area, toning and foxing throughout, mat burn, etc.,15 3/4" h. x 19 1/8" w.; wear on both consistent with age including issues listed.
